Offering all the courses the state of Colorado requires for your teen to get their driver's license.

Choose from individual course options or sign up for a Premier Package that includes them all! Your teen must be at least 14-1/2 years old on the first day of class.

  • Premier Package: Virtual Live Classroom/In Person Classes

    This package meets all Colorado state requirements for driver education.

    • Take the 30-hour driver education course virtually. This course is taught live by our instructors. You will login on the four scheduled dates to attend a live classroom with our instructors.
    • In Person Classes resume November 2021.
    • Take the written permit test in-person at TopCops.
    • Take two 3-hour private behind-the-wheel lessons.
    • Take the driving test at TopCops.

    Benefit from comprehensive instruction that covers SIPDE, defensive driving, traffic laws, controlling a car, zone of control, space cushion management, the SMOG technique, adverse conditions and emergencies, alcohol and drugs, responsibilities of operating a car, basic car maintenance, and more. Driving instructors are active duty and retired police officers. We focus on building confidence through a positive approach to the responsibility of driving. 

    Once you have held your permit for one year, you can schedule your driver's license test with us.

    *Please Note: The Virtual Live/In Person Classroom and Online Self-Paced Course are not interchangeable. There is a $100 fee to transfer courses. Be sure you are selecting the correct package.

    Teach your teen to drive by the experts - Colorado police officers! Take the 30-hour driver education course virtually. This course is taught live by our instructors. You will log in on the four scheduled dates to attend a live classroom with our instructors. This package also includes the written permit test. 

    In Person Classes will resume in November 2021.

  • 30-Hour Online Self-Paced Course Only

    Complete the 30-hour driver education course online at your own pace. (Upgraded narrative textbook included. Must be completed within six months.) This class does not include the written permit test; it will need to be purchased separately for $40. The online course will be set up, activated and credentials emailed within 24 hours of purchase. 

  • Permit Test Only

    Take your permit test with TopCops. To take the test, you must have completed the 30-hour driver education course and 15 years of age or within 30 days of your 15th birthday. If you did not take the 30-hour course with TopCops, you must show proof of course completion.

    The permit tests are proctored and entered into the DMV system by Dr. Melinda Groom. Dr. Groom is a retired BVSD principal, and she is able to provide IEP and 504 accommodations if needed. We will need the code from your instructional permit application that you received from the DMV website to enter your permit test completion. The permit tests are valid for 180 days or 6 months from the date issued. Fees are non-refundable.

  • 6-Hours of Behind-the-Wheel Driving Lessons + Driving Test

    Take six hours of one-on-one lessons (students are never in the back seat observing) with a professionally trained and experienced police officer as the instructor. A permit is required and these lessons should be completed within the first 3-6 months of obtaining your permit. Two three-hour lessons include basic car control, road management, scanning, decision making, hazard management, and highway control. 

    To take the test, your permit must be held for one full year from the date of issue unless you are 18 years of age or older. You can take your test at either our Broomfield or Louisville location.

  • 6-Hours Only of Behind-the-Wheel Driving Lessons

    Take six hours of one-on-one lessons (students are never in the back seat observing) with a professionally trained and experienced police officer as the instructor. A permit is required and these lessons should be completed within the first 3-6 months of obtaining your permit.

    Two three-hour lessons include basic car control, road management, scanning, decision making, hazard management, and highway control. Drives can be tailored to the needs of the student (such as specific routes and skills), just speak with the Officer Instructor. This is what makes our elite instructors head and shoulders above normal driving schools!

  • 3-Hour Driving Lesson + Driving Test

    Take a private driving lesson before taking your driving test to get your driver's license. You will schedule two appointments; one for the lesson and one for the test.

    To take the test, your permit must be held for one full year from the date of issue unless you are 18 years of age or older. You can take your test at either our Broomfield or Louisville location.

  • 3-Hour Private Driving Lesson

    Take a one-on-one driving lesson to assess your skills, work on a specific maneuver, or just gain more experience behind-the-wheel.

  • Defensive Driving

    Are you feeling unsure of your ability to drive in snow, ice, and heavy traffic? Are you worried about distracted driving? This 2-hour course offers a tremendous value and potentially life-saving training experience. In their own vehicles, students work one-on-one with instructors to practice maneuvers that cannot be taught during the behind-the-wheel lessons. The course covers:

    • ABS Braking
    • Tactical Decision Making
    • Situational Awareness
    • Evasive Driving (Hazard Avoidance, Obstacle Avoidance, Emergency Stopping)
    • Precision Skills (Vehicle Control in Tight Maneuvers)
    • Threshold Braking (Winter Driving Techniques)
    • Distracted Driving (Texting While Driving)

    You must have a driver's license to take this course. These courses are only offered on select days. Please contact the office for availability before creating an account and making payment.
